Today marks the 8/8 portal. The 8th day of the 8th month, or as some will know it as, The Lions Gate Portal.
The number 8 is an incredibly potent number when it comes to topics such as achievement, business, strength, abundance and balance between material and spiritual, as well as with the concept of karma. Pretty powerful right?
I only really started tapping into the energy of this date last year, and some astrologers out there will argue that I fell for the modern-day trap.
I follow quite a few astrologers on Instagram and of course other astrology accounts that I don’t follow show up on my feed. There seems to be quite a significant divide between those that are for and against this date.
Historically, this date has no significance in astrology, and some may argue that it is actually insulting to ancient history (but I’m not getting into that one). This specific date for some reason has opened up a portal itself for fake astrologers to benefit from others lack of information about the Lions Gate Portal. It has allowed them to create false astrological events (placements of stars and planets) that seem to vary each year. All of them being false. But what they are doing is holding group cleansing ceremonies for this portal. These group ceremonies can either be online or in person to which you have to pay to attend. So these fake astrologers are financially benefitting from sending out not only the wrong message, but the wrong energy, which can arguably do more damage.
The world of astrology is a big one, and everyone has their own take on it but it all comes back to ancient history, as far back as 4,000 years ago (could even be longer). It’s easy to see why true modern-day astrologers feel protective over their work and can appear defensive towards this date, especially when you take into consideration the criticism and ridicule astrology faces. Yes, it is more widely accepted, practiced and respected now but there was a lot of damage done that needed to be repaired in order to get to this point however, what I find disappointing is seeing astrologers that I admire and have been an active follower to, completely shutting down this date and its potential potency.
The Lions Gate Portal has next to nothing to do with astrology, but it is portrayed in an astrological way which angers some astrologers, and I get it, but by doing that aren’t you going against what astrology is about? To me, astrology is about energy. It isn’t necessarily about the stars and the planets, they aren’t the main characters, it’s about how their movements and placements change the energy within our solar system, which then changes the energy within our planet, which then changes the energy within everything and everyone on this planet. The energy is the main character.
We’re all aware that as a collective, we are much more powerful together, than us as individuals. If this portal is ‘modern day woo woo’ which on some level it is, doesn’t the fact that the sheer number of people that deliberately energise themselves for this date counteract the fact that there isn’t anything significantly astrological about this date? The people themselves are creating the energy. And I don’t understand how astrologers can shut this date down when numerology and astrology are somewhat closely related. I don’t see how you can’t shut down 8/8 but then celebrate 7/7, 3/3, 10/10 and 11/11. Isn’t that wrong?
My understanding of astrology is somewhat basic in comparison to actual astrologers, so correct me if I’m wrong about anything here, but I just don’t see how astrologers can shut this date down point blank and say there is absolutely nothing significant about it. That to me is doing an equal amount of damage to those benefitting from false astrological news they created about this portal.
I have however come across some lovely posts from astrologers I trust and have been long time followers of. They themselves are celebrating the date for the magic that it now holds in this modern age.
To briefly break it down:
We are in the season of Leo at the moment, and the 8/8 marks the halfway point for the sun on its journey through the sign. This also means it marks the halfway point between the June Solstice and September Equinox.
Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky, is said to activate this portal due to the rising of the star in the night sky (which starts in late July – mid-August). Sirius is also known as the Spiritual Sun and in many ancient times, the star was known for its wisdom and spiritual energy as well as marking the rebirth of our spiritual energy. In ancient Egypt, the rising of Sirius corresponded with the rainy season and the flooding of the Nile, which can further support the symbolism of rebirth through cleansing.
In numerology the number 8 can represent human DNA (imagine the DNA strand and how it intertwines, similar to 8). It also represents infinity, the never ending. To some it may also represent spiritual resting or deep meditation. To others it can symbolise ambition, motivation, success and achievement. It represents balance, balance between spiritual and material, good and bad karma.
My interpretation for this date is:
Use the energy of this whole day to look into where there is poor balance between material and spiritual. Are you showing any signs of greed? Ungratefulness? Do you have insecurities around wealth, your talents or goals?
Spend some time if you can (and in whatever way you can) to just think about this. Think about and be honest about how you can use the power of 8 and what it symbolises, to see the areas of your life that aren’t fully aligned.
Then with using the power of Sirius, flood yourself clean (how you do that has to be chosen by you). Use the energy from Leo season to go forward, to activate this new rebirthed glow. Leos are all about playful, courageous, confident and hearty energies. Incorporate that into yourself and your life. Where and how do you lack playfulness? How can you bring this energy back in? Tap into your inner child, make a bold decision (no matter how big or small it is) and allow yourself to show off. Stand out from the crowd and be grand.
Use this energy that so many of us out there are also tapping into.
